Summit headers

Well, got my Summit G9041 headers in the other day along with their universal 2.5" x-pipe kit. For being such cheap units, the headers are amazingly well built with extremely thick flanges at the head as well as the collectors and very good welds. Two of the tubes are also dimpled for steering box and starter clearance which wasn't apparent in any of the pictures on the website, was quite a nice surprise. Being that they don't list any headers for the Cordobas, I looked them up using 74 Charger thinking that it's the closest I'm going to get. Lo and behold, the first car listed in the instructions is 75 Cordoba with the 400 lol. Might have to do some modification to the shift linkage being column shift, but as long as they fit ok everywhere else I'll be happy. One last note, looks like they're built for Summit by Flowtech as they came in a nice big Summit box, with Flowtech stickers inside lol.

Any summit brand part I've bought has always been high quality, have not been disappointed by them yet.

Member JPrather has those on his 72 400 Satellite IIRC.

I saw them when I stopped by the shop his car was at.

They looked very nice (in ceramic), and the shop guys said no mods!!!

IIRC, it's a slapstick car.

Might have to put a set on the wish list.

I see the Flow-tech branded ceramic ones on ebay for about $450 and free shipping.

Is it a better deal to go through Summit?

I've been thinking about buying their ceramic headers. Summit outsources to very reputable companies, after looking carefully their headers appear to mirror Hookers. I've got Hookers on my car right now and love them but they're showing their age.

Just checked out the price at Summit, the ceramic coated Flowtech are $357 right now.
Looks like I bought mine just at the right time, I paid $139 and when I looked this morning they have gone up to $174.

Did you have to make any dents or were they there already for clearance?

I had Hedmans. Elites. I had to crush half a tube to clear the starter.

There's a strategically placed dent on the inside of the tube that'll be closest to the starter, but I've been so busy at work the last couple of weeks I've had no gumption to get them on yet. They mentioned nothing about having to run a mini starter with them, so hopefully there's enough clearance for the stock one. I'll keep ya posted when I get them on this weekend.

Since your talking about starter clearance I thought I'd mention this for any future needs. I'm running Hooked Super Comps (1 7/8") with power steering and they clear everything without a single dent using a factory starter.

I had super comps on my Bee.

They cleared everything with only one or two small dings, but you had to undo the header to get the starter out.

Not terrible, but worth noting.

Also had to run a custom combo of plug wires with some straight, some 90* and some 45* boots.
