Which will be most used in the build? The $15 ebay acquisition or ~70 army surplus wing nut old school clecos OR the new school eastwood ~$40 kit with horribly few clecos?
Those aren't "old school" clecos . . . the copper colored ones only have a fixed amount of force that you can place on the joint, the wing nut type are capable of providing a much larger amount of force to keep the panels tight while you're working on them. They can be really torqued down on the panels - it will make a difference in some cases . . .
I much prefer the wing nut types and wish that I had a bunch more in my toolbox . . .
Personally I find clecos have limited use in a resto. If you're building airplanes with rivets they're ideal but if you're plug welding panels you don't want a lot of holes that you need to fill. Sheet metal screws strategically placed get the job done well and require no special tools.
