I grew up playing outdoors every nice day and most of the crappy ones as well. Out in the neighborhood, down in the creek, etc. Quickly learned to wash most of the mud out of my clothes using the garden hose so I didn't get an earful once my mom saw what a mess I made.
I'm allergic to damn near everything. Cats are the worst. Has gotten better with age, though. When I was young, on hot summer days I could only cut the grass for 30-45 mins before I had to come in wheezing like an accordion. 30 mins later I was good enough to get back out there.
I don't know what the deal is with allergies. I've been to at least 3 different experts in the field and at the end of the day they'll basically tell you it's black magic. I even got allergy shots on and off for around 20 years. I thought they were helping, so I kept going back. My allergist closed up shop 6-7 years ago and I took my time finding a new one. Summer came around and I had been off shots for around 9 months and didn't notice any significant difference then or since. Haven't gone back to an allergist since.
My dad swears by his allergy treatments, and having seen him the day before and the day after his shots, it works wonders for him.
