Grew up in the north and stayed outside as much as I could. In the winter, being wet or half frozen from the snow was the norm. Even fell through the ice once while skating. Glad it was shallow. Soak and wet again. Moved to the south at 12 and continued the routine of staying out as much as possible swimming, riding bikes, mowed all the yards I could and then a bit later on, go carts, mini bikes etc. Thing is, seems like sinus infections were the norm. Only thing is, never heard the term until many years later. Didn't get tested for allergies until I was almost 40 and found out that many types of pollen (including grass...both kinds!) was at the top of the list along with many other things. Tried shots but that didn't help plus I hated them and then heard about Allegra D. Now I have high blood pressure. Finally a doc told me decongestants help cause high BP. Nice. No decongestants in my life anymore but I've learned to recognize when I need to take something when my sinuses start acting up. Haven't had a sinus infection in over 10 years now. Thinking back, my dad was the same way but he always said he had a cold. Dang....get a cold 3 and 4 times a year. I don't think so. Told him about the different kinds of allergy meds but he was skeptical but tried a couple anyways and they actually helped. Here lately after the storm, mold and pollen counts have been through the roof and I'm feeling it. Knew something was up before they posted it on the news but whenever it rains a lot, I don't have to watch the news for the counts. All of technology have taken huge leaps forward and stuff you never heard about 50 years ago are now common. How many heard much about cancer back then?
