Leaking tail lights

On a 70 Sat. It's a pity the factory didn't use threaded studs and nuts as the silly fasteners on there will not tighten up.
This must be a common problem because of the age of the cars and they would have been removed several times that they no longer have sufficient clamping force. The studs appear to wear thinner too. The same fasteners appear on the shifter console lids as well with the same downfall
How have others overcome.this
 
I have not delt with a 70 tail light but am guessing your talking about speed nuts by your description. Get some new nuts at napa ect the correct size and then add a flat washer under each to get it to bite on a new area of the stud.
