I picked up a nice factory AM/FM thumbwheel radio a couple weeks ago & it works pretty well, but it has the typical issue with the manual roller; it will go up and down the dial in one direction, but it stalls out in the other direction. Is there something that can be lubricated to solve this or is it another issue & it need so be sent out?

Thanks.

I think if you can open it up and watch the wheel & cable you'll see what needs to be done. I had a similar problem on my Marantz 2270 and simply had to tighten up the cable.

The plastic bevel gear is split. I have never been able to get around it. You could try some type of epoxy, but I could not get it to work.

I used a piece of fine wire and tightly wrapped it tightly around the split gear with the gear OFF the shaft. Just make sure the split is pulled together. Then mix up some JB Weld and bury the wire in the epoxy. Let it dry overnight and then press it back on the shaft. Mine has been working fine all summer.

Have a 69 thumb wheel am for parts. Will make sure manual wheel works if interested, shipping only.

Cleaning up last and almost tossed it. I'm a bit "I might need that sometime" saver.
