69 air cleaner base plate

AAR makes an air cleaner base plate for the A12 cars, but of course it's fiberglass. Anyone know what kind of quality these are or better yet, know of a good repop steel one? NOS in good shape are usually priced crazy.

Yeah!!! That's partly why I was asking about the quality on the AAR piece, it's a buck and a quarter.

The A12 setup is completely different than the fresh air base plates and lids. For the purist, the original A12 units will pull down some serious cash as the reproductions have several issues with them.

I believe PG Classic's are steel. I bought the kit for the 4 barrel and it was steel. They were the only ones selling a new steel base plate but nobody sells just the steel base plate new that I could find.

Sorry about that. I knew that. Had a brain fart and thought you were talking about 6 pack.

it is a 6 pack, but the 69 cars had a completely different air cleaner base plate

The real ones are really rediclous, they want 2grand for carved up junk ones.

The snobar ones are nice, he made them slightly different though so they couldn’t be passed off for originals.

Fiberglass one isn't to bad, I had to do a little work to it to get it up to clear bowl vent. Made some spacers I epoxied to base. could've used more gaskets but didn't like having to deal with that. Still way better than 1600$

 

[Frustration]

I use a glass one on my RR. I'm happy to keep the cash in my pockets. My car is not an original A12...no reason to spend the big bucks to pass it off as one. I agree they need a bit of work to make them correct.
