That sounds right, after posting i noticed my passenger door doesn't have the hole for the remote lever. Do you have a pic of yours ?

IIRC a remote pass mirror on a B body was available on 75 and up models.

They are a different design of mount, although the outward appearance is extremely similar. The mount studs are on the mirror (no visible screw holes) and they have a hemi-spherical protrusion around the stud that requires a stamped recess in the door skin.

I believe a painted one could be modified by simply cutting off the stud and protrusion, and drilling and countersinking screw holes from the outside.
