I think my 2003 PT is on it's last legs.

I've been considering a 2015/16 jeep Renegade as a replacement.

It checks off a LOT of the boxes I'm looking for in a daily driver/commuter/swap meet car.

Most importantly, it's got a TON of headroom. That's actually an area where the PT is borderline for me.

The passenger and cargo areas are very similar to the PT, so it appears the functionality in that area would be similar. I can haul a LOT of stuff in my PT, and frequently do.

I've found two locally that have under 30K miles and are equipped with the 1.4 turbo and six speed manual.

My PT is a manual and is pretty fun to drive.

I'm currently getting 26-29 MPG average, and the Renegade is EPA rated slightly better by 1 or 2 MPG.

I am aware of some issues with the 9 speed auto, and have found there is a computer flash available, but again, I'm really looking at the six speed.

Anyone have one?

Our '05 PT Cruiser has been is getting tired also. It's been handed down to our daughter to drive around campus. I drive a '96 Cherokee and the wife drives a '06 Grand Cherokee (we like Jeep). We've looked at the renegades also. Haven't heard many good things about that automatic and she can't drive a stick, so we haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. Otherwise, they seem like a good little vehicle

I work at a dealer. We haven't seen any back for anything other than oil changes.
FYI they are 100% Fiat......for better or worse.

We also looked at a 500x, which is supposed to be the same platform.

Not nearly as much headroom or rear cargo area room.

Update- I did buy a 2015 Renegade 1.4 turbo six speed manual.

At the one month mark, I'm averaging 33 MPG on my work commute.

I've calculated the power to weight ratio to be about the same as a 360 2 barrel powered Duster.

So far I'm happy, although the transport functionality is slightly less than the PT due to nowhere near the number of cubby holes and cup holders, and the fact that the rear and passenger seats do not fold completely flat.

The increased power and MPG, and the fact that I have plenty of headroom, oh and the kick *** stereo, make up for those.

$9/qt "Ferrari/euro spec" 5w40 full syn oil.

I'm putting a Ferrari badge on it somewhere!

Daughter has a '15 Latitude 2wd. Snow travel not that great otherwise just a plugged up windshield washer that a little compressed air fixed. I do know the anti-locks worked great last time I was visiting her. The classic 4 lane deal when someone in the right lane waves a guy on turning left out of the mini-mart to go across your lane. I thought sure he was toast as he stops his car looking directly into our grill like a deer in headlights. She had 6 feet to spare!
Oil changes in Canada are ridiculously expensive so we do it in the states when she visits.

We have a 16 patriot 75th annevisary edition. It has more room than the renegade and it's made here not in italy. It gets less mpgs though. There are manual versions out there
