Found out the hard way a lowlife at the tire store stripped the threads on one of my center caps. Almost lost it on the freeway. Should I try to re-tap it or just get another? If I re-tap to a bigger size can the metal take it or will it split? Thanks.

Fill the stripped out hole completely with JB Weld and let it cure for 24-48 hours, then re-drill and tap the hole.

I tapped mine out to 5/16 bolt size and no splitting just use cutting oil and dont get in a hurry

Use the two-part stuff that turns gray when it's mixed together.
