Is this the right oil for my 1970 Belvedere?

Are you doing a flush and convert to 134 ? Do not use PAG 46 oil in a R12 system
Im pretty sure you will want pag 100 in the 2cyl comp if you convert to 134,
if it is still r12 they used to run ester / mineral oil.
Google it and dbl check though.

I bought a converted rebuilt R134 compressor, new dryer, new evaporator, and condenser. Only reusing the lines. What should I clean the lines out with? Brakekleen or similar?

The oil in the picture was listed as “recommended” when I purchased the compressor from Summit.

134a use PAG OR ESTER OIL - 11oz

blowing out with compressed air or liquid flushing with an air-conditioning liquid flushing agent.

^^^^^^^^ this, don't use brakekleen ect use a ac flush and blow dry, plus let the vac pump run extra long once the system is together.

DO NOT USE BRAKEKLEEN!!!!!!!
What you want is from AC Pro, called clean and flush, Here is a link to it from Oreillys. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...ics-32-ounce-a-c-system-cleaner/cqs11/4384841

Also, the rubber supposedly on R-12 should be replaced as molecule size difference between R-12 and 134a, 134a being smaller, means that it will seep through hoses used on R-12. So, if you don't replace and start losing refrigerant overtime, that could be one of the reasons. Don't for get to use green O-rings as well.

Also make sure the filter screen on the inlet side of the compressor is clean!!!

Thanks. Glad I asked!
I already replaced all o rings with green ones. Not sure I saw a “screen”. Where is it?

Did you change your txv valve or just going to run the r12 one.

I assume you mean the 1” diameter cylinder I pulled out of the old one. I stuck it in the new one. Should I replace it? Clearly I know nothing about this. Just trying to get it assembled for a shop to charge it. Open to any thoughts.

Txv valve should be gold in color and it's near the evap. Question why are you changing over did you loose the compressor

I see it. I was going to reuse it but is there a different one for R134? I replaced all parts cause they haven’t been used in 20 years and comp was frozen up.

I would change it just because dont know if it works or not and a system down that long its just better to be safe than sorry

Sonny think of it as the carb on a engine

Thanks. I also pulled a cylinder about 1” in diameter from inside the old compressor. What is that called and should I replace it too?

Got a pic
I dont. It was in one of the two holes that connect to the hoses and had a Spring on top of it. Pulled it out as it had o rings around it.

Is compressor a rebuild or reman. I believe that comes out. But need to ddl check me on that did it come out from one of the port holes

It’s a reman. There wasn’t one in the new compressor. Just in the old R12.
