what's the fastest you have drove your car?

I had a malfunction in my speedometer years ago. 120mph sweep dash. Needle went all the way to the right past the numbers and started bouncing up amd down. Not sure what that meant:lol:.

Did 135 on a Ninja on the autobahn in germany.....riding bitch!!:realcrazy:

Snowmobiles....couldnt begin to guess how many times I've crossed the triple digit mark.:icon_fU:

Talking on a CB’s is a lot like just simply talking on your cell phone.

Talking on MY CB is JUST like talking on MY cellphone when I am in MY truck. I can't speak for everybody, but MY CB is Bluetooth, hands free and voice activated. Just like MY cellphone. I take my safety and that of others VERY seriously!! It's my livelihood and the last thing that I want to do is take the life of an innocent person.
That being said, I see the craziest **** out on the roads and highways. Just last week I passed a truck that was driving erratically. When I got up next to him, he had a tablet propped up on his steering wheel and was watching what seemed to be some sort of movie or TV show. In an 80,000 LB guided missile. People truly are IDIOTS sometimes. I've done more than my share of dumb things in life, but the older that I get, the more that I try to use commonsense.

The difference between old school CB and cell phone-

No looking up numbers in your directory and no dialing a number with tiny buttons that must bee looked at.

Been over 100 on my sleds a few times out on the frozen lakes. Don't do that anymore after a buddy hit a shift in the ice and got thrown off.

When I was 14 I "took a day off" from school and "borrowed" my mom's 71 le sabre.

They were building a new bypass around the city and for whatever reason no construction that day.

Wanted to see if it would do 120.

It did.

Being out on the road all day, what I find to be much worse than talking on the phone is texting. I can't begin to tell you how often I see people driving with their face in their phone typing away. Not even looking up for long periods of time.

When I pass someone that's going 10 MPH under and obviously texting or otherwise manipulating their phone, I make the phone gesture with my thumb and pinky, and shake them while giving a cross expression.

Usually they are shocked that I know what they are doing.

I've never been a fan of high speeds, to many things can go wrong really fast. Last year I was having a little fun with a guy when I looked down and realized I was doing 125mpg, needless to say I backed out of it but was glad to see how easily and smoothly it did it.

When commuting to work I would get a tailgater. Watching them in the rear view I would notice that they were texting. More than once this would happen to me. I told a couple of guys at work about this and they had the same thing happen to them.

So what they are doing is useing the back of your car for a peripheral vision target (for lack of a better description) so they can text without running off the road. A sort of adaptation that's taking place out there by people that feel compelled to text while driving.

If you have to contact the younger generation these days, have you noticed that they won't answer a phone call. You'll try calling numerous times with no luck. Then you text them and they reply immediately. I don't get that, they'll text all day but won't use the phone, which in my book is easier.

So back to the tailgaters that are texting, just decrease your speed without showing your brake lights and watch what happens. These people are playing Russian Roulette with a cell phone and a 3500 lb vehicle. Useing a handheld device while driving is illegal in most states but that doesn't seem to matter. Scary stuff!

My guess is that the new cars that can do tricks like self-parallel parking and advanced cruise control, auto braking, etc are the ones that could be interfered with by "hacking" to actually assume any kind of control.
For now "hacking" of cars would be for information only. Self-driving cars are another matter.
That leads my mind to wonder what a motivation would be to "hack" a self-driving car? --To cause a wreck for fun? To bring the car home to steal it?
There will always be some moron out there that will try and do it just so they can brag about it or for other fun and games. Why are there so many that write virus programs to screw up our computers and phones etc?

Yeah I hit 110 once on a friends "Widow Maker". Boy the shore line comes up fast at that speed. Once was enough.

Wait!!!

#1; Watching TV on a tablet while driving?!?!
Freakin brilliant!!!

Where’s Darwin’s law?

#2: Your CB is hands free?

Ow that is a good use of tech the right way!
And that is awesome as well.... veeeeeery cool I have to add in!

#2: Your CB is hands free?

Yes, my CB is Bluetooth capable, voice activated through my headset. My headset controls every aspect of my phone as well. I can send text messages and emails just by talking into my headset. My hands never have to leave the wheel. In some states, like NY, even 1 touch phone use is illegal in a CMV. And the fine is $1200.00 for the first offense and loss of license for the second offense. In NY, as well as many other states that I travel in frequently, keying in your GPS while driving is the same ticket as cell phone use.

Perhaps someday the rest of the folks will "get it" that it's not what your hands are doing...

...it what your mind is doing.

Wow! HEY! Nice use of tech!
Kudos to you!

189 zx-11, 170 R1, 179 Ducati 1199, 165 Ducati Diavel, about 135-140 in my 82C10
Looking back I was an idiot in a fast way... I'm shocked I am still here. I can't believe how many things could have gone wrong. I just hope I haven't pass the fast stupid gene to my kids.

I don't know how many times I went 190+
"at the track", 5.97 @ 227 was my top speed
I had countless times over "the deuce"
That's the place to do it...

I was a stupid young kid that drove fast on wide open roads
& I street raced a shitload as a youth too...

When I was younger & much dumber
my dads friend a CHP Officer in El Dorado Co.
caught me doing a bit over 100 on hwy 193
somewhere between Georgetown & Garden Valley
on a wide open stretch, all of my buddies use to do it in the same place
we all had Mopars or other Muscle cars too
{no it's not the brightest thing either}

Also in HS I raced a 69 Torino GT 390 a friend Ron H.
in my 68 Charger R/T from El Dorado HS Placerville
back to Ponderosa HS in Shingle Springs in 1975-ish
after a basketball game it went 135-ish, 3.551 gears it was limited
on Hwy 50 for "miles" with 3 other guys in my car {stupid}
I lost the Torino in less than 1/4, he topped out at like 120-ish
his was a bit of a turd, he had more freeway gears too,
the rest was just for fun/stupidity, testosterone of a young male
really being young & dumb...

I got clocked by a CHP on I-5 shortly after HS
1978-ish going to Antioch to my Moms from Atwater
coming from Castle AFB at my sisters place, doing over 120
{same 68 Charger, with bolt-on goodies}
"after I was slowing down", because I saw him on the freeway onramp
knew I was busted, he was pretty cool/he was a car guy
& wrote me up for 85 in a 75
& a stern warning, only because I was the only one on that stretch of road...
{I don't think he wanted to do all the arrest & paperwork either}

I'm sure I went 110-120+ many times while street racing too...
Especially as a kid in Concord/Walnut Creek area, cruise nights gatherings afterwards...

I was young & dumb, what else can you say, you can't erase history...

Would I do it again ?, todays me, the more sensible & smarter me wouldn't,
I have far too much to lose now !!
I pretty much stayed on the track after kids where in the picture...
BUT; the old me, the younger me probably would, I was a motion/speed junky...
Not the smartest things to do, but it was what it was...
I make no excuses for it either...
I'm not a fucken' hypocrite at least...

There's another thread on here somewhere, I couldn't find,
that has some interesting stories on the same subject too...
