Steering wheel color change

I’m looking at buying a 1970 b body steering wheel with the horn pad ring but it’s blue and I need black. Can I dye the pad and paint the wheel? If so any product recommendations?

You can dye the pad, no problem. Herbs has it in virtually any stock color. You can paint the wheel but eventually it may start coming off with all the handling. If you are like me and don't drive the car every day then I would go for it.

yes you can dye it, but as Bill said it will start to show wear over time. Why not buy the correct black horn pad and sell the blue one. I'm sure you will be more happier with a factory black one. Just my 2 cents worth!!

I might. I stole it for $100. Just wanted the correct wheel, screws, pad, horn attachment, etc. really.

More than likely, it's going to be a lot easier to find a black one than the one you have. I'm sure somebody would love to have that blue one, it looks like it's in great shape

yep please don't paint the blue one black! I looked forever for a blue pad for my bee because someone dyed it black. the black is much easier to find.

I need a red horn pad it seems impossible to find . Buy the black one and pass the hard to find blue on .
