well, it took a while, but finally losing the 8 1/4 2:73 ( ?) open carrier, and have my 8 3/4 3:55 sure grip !! wooo hooo.., but gonna miss cruizing at 70 mph @ 2000 rpm, but, i just might get to 70 a bit quicker now !

now the question is.. what do i do with the 8 1/4 ???

Forgot to congratulate you, where did you purchase it?
Driveline works in Melbourne, fl. he is a big time moper guy, he has a 72 SSP he is working on now, putting a viper V/10 and drive line in it, and has a really kool coronet 500 / super bee convertible with a 500 and a 5 speed !
he has LOTS of old mopar parts !

Just a question, do you tighten the U-bolts to specs during assembly or once the wheels are back on the ground with the car weight on it?
 
I'd say in the air. You'd be tightening against the weight of the car if was on the ground.
