Just installed 1 7/8" TTI Headers with 3" Flowmaster Ex. Fit great - sound better. 440 with E-Street heads, Flat top Pistons, comp 268AH cam, H-Beam rods, Air Grabber, 727 shift kit, 3.5 sure grip

Glad I went with H pipe. Had to cut the pipe at the H and re-weld to make the pipe fit to the header flanges.

Just did the same thing on my coronet.
Headers fit without a single swing of the ballpeen hammer.

The X pipe is ever so slightly quieter with a smoother sound where the H pipe is a little more radical. If you want that muscle car cam chop, use the H pipe. It is more pronounced over the X pipe.

Thank you. Any recommendations for the H Pipe? TTI?

TTI has an X or H pipe exhaust set up.
If your cobbling your own exhaust, a simple H or X pipe from Summit or Jegs will work fine. IMO, an H is easier to install. You just need to cut and fit it in. Not a hard thing to do. A little time consuming.

I am still not convinced either one would be worth doing on a 3 1/2" free flowing (home built mufflers) , dumped in front of the rear end. Bragging here > no drone , not excessively loud!

Well, inexpensive and noise level are very personal. IF I was doing things for the street it would be a lot different than a street strip car and yet different again for a track only car.

The cheapest I can do an exhaust (like we all have probably done) is just 2 simple straight pipes into the mufflers w/cheap hangers. Turn downs facing each other a little bit (45* angle) help A LOT.

But all of that we have done already.

I think it was the motor masters show that did an on the dyno comparison of each type - twin, H and X. HP gains were so minimal (single digits), that I ditched the idea of installing one and kept them seperate for some classic Big Block thump ;)

Looks good. I have a home made 3-1/2" X Pipe to the muffler reduced down to 3" after the mufflers & up over the axle to the back thru the stock modified tips. I bought a bunch of 90 degree elbows & straight pipe. I always get compliments of how awesome it sounds at idle & when I take off. I get asked what exhaust shop did the exhaust & then I tell them I did it... LOL. And it has been on the car for over 20 years now.

3" pipes all the way from my TTi 1&7/8" headers to my chrome tips through the 3" Flowmasters...
I used the 3" X pipe...better scavenging. Fits well, pre-fabbed unit.
No noticeable performance improvement with my cutouts open or closed, so that speaks highly for my exhaust system's performance...I usually run open though, because it sounds FIERCE! :)

Your system looks real good. I use 2" TTI headers and their 3" exh with Dyno-Max Ultra-Flow mufflers all the way to the back of the car. I like my exh out the rear so I don't get no drone like I have seen when dumped at the rear. I also used the X-pipe this time. I race it just as you see it through the full 3" system. I really don't know if it would be faster uncapped as I have never uncapped my car. Ron
