Hi Everyone,
I've been on this forum a few times now. A lot of good information is on here. Thanks to all the knowledgeable people that post helpful information!
I joined for a couple of reasons. I want to warn members about AMD B-Body front frame rails so they don't run into the same headaches I have. Also want to post information and install help with some of the aftermarket installs I am doing on my 1969 Dodge Charger.
Originally a 318 Charger, but either going 440 or modern 392. Rusted in the usual places, trunk, lower quarters, and a little on the floor. Front right frame rail damage at the end near radiator support. Wish I had cut off end and repaired. More on that in my next post. Some unusual features about this car is it has torque boxes on all corners, and shock tower bracing in wheel wells. I thought that was only on big block Mopars?
I went with Gerst suspension all around. I am in the process of installing, but love the quality and support Carl Gerst provides with his products. I apologize to all the puritans that only like original restorations, but I dont think 318 cars deserve original restorations (JMO)
Hopefully some of my upcoming posts will help some people avoid problems, and help them in decisions with some aftermarket parts.
Edit: added some pics of the hot mess.
Marty
