Hi Everyone,

I've been on this forum a few times now. A lot of good information is on here. Thanks to all the knowledgeable people that post helpful information!

I joined for a couple of reasons. I want to warn members about AMD B-Body front frame rails so they don't run into the same headaches I have. Also want to post information and install help with some of the aftermarket installs I am doing on my 1969 Dodge Charger.

Originally a 318 Charger, but either going 440 or modern 392. Rusted in the usual places, trunk, lower quarters, and a little on the floor. Front right frame rail damage at the end near radiator support. Wish I had cut off end and repaired. More on that in my next post. Some unusual features about this car is it has torque boxes on all corners, and shock tower bracing in wheel wells. I thought that was only on big block Mopars?

I went with Gerst suspension all around. I am in the process of installing, but love the quality and support Carl Gerst provides with his products. I apologize to all the puritans that only like original restorations, but I dont think 318 cars deserve original restorations (JMO)

Hopefully some of my upcoming posts will help some people avoid problems, and help them in decisions with some aftermarket parts.

Edit: added some pics of the hot mess.

Marty

Northern CA is a big place, big enough in land mass to eclipse about 25% of the east coast states! Where exactly are you?

Granite Bay near Folsom Lake. Just moved here after spending 13 years in Orange County, originally from the Bay Area. Happy to be back up North where there are seasons, lakes, rivers and back yards!

I am just up the street from you then! I live between Beals Point and Granite Bay off of Auburn Folsom road! The Wife and I moved here in 2004.
Orange County...Lots of car culture in Southern CA. That is one thing I do like about that end of the state.

Hey Howyadoin? Welcome. Bad move for you, your still stuck there! Good luck in the Sanctuary state!

:welcome: from the foothills of NE Tennessee!
For the record, I disagree with 318 Chargers not "deserving" restoration.
It's a dang Mopar, isn't it? Well....
Besides, at the rate Hollywood is destroying all 2nd gen Chargers, every one left is worth restoring as far as I'm concerned.
Welcome to FBBO!

"I think he doth protest too much..." Are you sure law enforcement didn't chase you out of California? WE GET IT! You don't like the Golden State. Now, PLEASE, give it a rest. It doesn't add ANYTHING to the conversation...

Outside of politics/state government, traffic, and cost of living, this is a really nice place to live!
I not so sure about nice, but you won't get a argument outta me on that.

Hey, I wasn't talkin to or about you. You don't like what I write, then don't read it, it's that simple!
