74 Charger opera window grills

I am looking to remove the old torn vinyl roof from my 74 Charger. Can the side window grills be reinstalled and look ok if I don't put a vinyl roof back on? I am planning to patch up the body and paint the car all Hotrod black including the roof. It is just a driver.

Yes you can and it will look ok.

Note that the vinyl takes up some room in that area and somethings are recessed to clear it.

"OK" is a relative term.

I think they look funny without them

One of the very (and I mean VERY) few cars I actually prefer a vinyl roof on.

I agree with YY1. These look out of place without the vinyl. I just did mine this weekend and its not that hard, a little SEM trim black and polish and paint the trim and it will make the car.

Hi, How did you get the trim off around the edge of the top? Broken clips? replacements available?

The clips will break since they are so old. First you need to remove the rear seat and side panels as there is on nut on each side at the curve. Plus to access the SE emblem nuts. Once those are removed put pressure to the rear on the trim and lift the rear edge and it will pop off. I bought a new set of clips on ebay for $9
