Hemi Prices?

Anyone want to venture an opinion as to why Hemi cars of all years have dropped in value so much over the last several years?

Of course, the multi-million dollar Barrett-Jackson BONANZA has faded, remnants of the financial crisis in 2006-2008 where the Investors (so called) paid million$ for overpriced cars, LS-6 Chevelle, 1970, Butch Leal's California Flash sold for something like $450K
NOW: it can not muster $200K

But hey, that was a FALSE MARKET (As Barrett-Jackson is of course)
NOW: Old Car Price Guide (I subscribe) lists HEMI CARS prices as: Unestimable

1970 440-Six Pack cars in rough condition are selling for $45K
Recent Alan Reitz auction, I bid $39K, it sold for $42K plus a 10 percent premium

I'm confused....
 
All I know is 1967 435 Corvettes with originality and docs are selling for over 200K. I have 1 of 720 1967 Hemi GTX's with original paperwork. It is a first place show winning car. I can't give it away without a huge loss. I am 67 and would be willing to talk to a serious party, but not for an offer of 1/2 of what it is really worth.

I know that I shouldn't even be thinking about it,but with the current surge in Charger prices ,I am wondering if I should consider selling my 70 V code Charger R / T. I have gathered up a lot of parts for the restoration, including a pair of NOS Charger rear quarters. It needs a total restoration, but it is a west coast car. It has the matching numbers engine, but the transmission don't match. It has the fendertag, but no build sheet. It was documented by Galen. I don't really want to sell the car, but seeing how crazy the current second generation Charger market is, and the number of projects I have ahead of it,I am thinking about it. I would probably never be able to replace it if I let it go! By the same token, if I end up having to sell it later I could miss the current market explosion of these cars and lose thousands on the car. It's a tough call.

If you are worried about money sell the damn thing. If you like the car just keep it. You sound like an investor and not a car guy with talk like that.

I get what Chargervert is saying & no, you don't have to be an investor to realize that if there's money to be made, it may be wiser to strike now while the iron is hot rather than go through all the time, work and money of a complete restoration.
 
I'm not an investor, but I had almost thirty of them. I sold off eight of the worst project cars I had in the last year. This V code Charger is probably the most valuable car I own. I really want to build the car, but if I end up selling it, this is the time to do so. I am trying to downsize, and I am getting to the point where I have to start making the hard choices. I bought the Daytona stock car clone this year, and it is costing a fortune to build. I have some tough decisions to make.

I get what he is saying also.

My house is worth way more than what i have in it. It still needs a bunch of work. I am not gonna sell it for the profit and buy a finished house at the same money. I like my house.

That is my mindset. If it is not the car you want then sell it. If it is THE car you want then keep it. Only he can be the one that makes that call.
 
I own a 66 vett conv 427/450 horse one of first madestill rated at that h/p
I also own the 426 Hemi / 4spd Satellite
The vet has dropped 20 grand in the last 5 yrs.
The Hemi has remained basically the same in value
 
What did the 66 Hemi Satellite sell for?
I happened to have it on at the time and missed it, but I thought I heard them say in the 60s just as it was flashing off the screen.
