Most people don't even realize there is no such thing as "Corinthian" leather. It was a ploy manufactured by Chrysler's advertising company. The leather was supplied by a company in north Jersey, Edison I think.
In this ad, he says "SOFT, CORINTHIAN LEATHER".Had my first one back in the Son-of-Sam disco days, and I'm on my third one now. All great cars, especially planting my smelly *** on the RICH, CORINTHIAN LEATHER. ( I thought it was imported from the country of Corinthia... )
I read a video response that said his famoys sayng was "rich " but heIn this ad, he says "SOFT, CORINTHIAN LEATHER".
I read a youtube response. Apparently his famous quote was misquoted. Eveyrone says " rich" but it was " soft "In this ad, he says "SOFT, CORINTHIAN LEATHER".
I bet Tattoo would know.I but there was more than one of those ads and there is one where he calls it "rich".
I had a 77 diplomat 2 door with leather seats, loved them. Stripped out the lean burn and it would lay rubber.
Huh, learn something new every day ! Interesting. Thanks !There are some accounts George Washington Carver was looking for ways to use cottonseed. He extracted oil from them and found human skin tolerated it well. In his quest he saw tanning leather was a nasty job usung harsh lye in the process. He looked for a plentiful source for the seeds and found there was lots of the seeds available in Corinth, MS. He found a guy named Leutkemeyer who tried Carver's idea of tanning hides using cottonseed oil and Corinthian leather was born.
