Just about finished with the ‘71 RR rehab.it had what looked like new or newer I should say shocks on it when work began so I just cleaned them up and re used them.Looking forward and knowing what shocks can do for ride and handling, what do most of you use? NOT a race car and by no means a road corse or off road beast, just a stock driver(only driven by a grey haired old man) Best non adjustable driver shock?

Bilsteins are nice. PST has good pricing on them and you get a 10% discount if you mention that you are a member here.

I did not think shocks would make a huge difference, but ponied out the money to buy Bilstein shocks and there was a huge difference for the feel of the car on the road. I think you get what you pay for and any high end shock will make a significant improvement. Some more than others. Given the cost and difference, I am sold on getting good shocks. I have not tried all the different options.

My 2-cents would be to run Gabriel, Monroe or KYB (on my car now) since they're "standard street shocks" and my KYB's seem to ride just fine.

HOWEVER, I have never run any expensive shocks, so I don't have anything to compare to. I did run some 90/10 Race Country drag shocks in the 80's (too bouncy on highway). So to others with more experience with a variety of shocks, please chime in.

I was not at all happy with street feel of the KYB's on my Satellite. Not at all sure of others. Back in the day, didn't like Monroes, Sears heavy duty were good on my '70 Barracuda.

My thoughts exactly............ And yes I did that exact thing. James took care of me!

Bilsteins all 4. Got mine back when Hotchkis sold them. The best.

the front shocks on my B are some blue ones , I'm thinking monroe
the front is very bouncy , has anybody had tried q a1 and Bilsteins, Bilsteins are 100 $ less a pair

18 way double adjustable Viking front shocks, 3 way adjustable CEE-2730 Competition Engineering rear shocks.
I need time on the road and the quarter mile to make the most of them. I am glad the front Vikings have so much adjustability, because the ride varies a lot depending on setting.

+1 on Billstein. They have a intermediate price, KYB etc. is cheaper, QA1 etc. is more expensive.
Not too stiff but car reacts much better and compared to others experience with KYB etc. the Billstein's are well worth the extra bucks.

best for driving bilstein as they are meant for the stock and xhd spring rates, if you go with a higher spring rate (like mono leaf fiberglass leaf springs or the hotchkiss springs) you need at least fox shocks or better
