I don't have trim on yet. but appears like there should not be this gap between door and vent window. I had light in door to show gap better. what did I do wrong. thanks, charger10

Do you have a service manual? It looks to me that some of the inner brackets might be installed wrong. Did you dissemble the door(s) ? Did you take pictures before you took it apart?

I did completely dissemble the door, windows. I did take some pics. of the vent window before taking it apart for cleaning and chrome the 1 piece. I do have the shop manual.
 
Are the cat whiskers not secured tight to the frame? Is that what the black piece is?
 
yes, the metal tabs on cat whiskers are not strong and would not hold them tight, I put a small amount of adhesive to try and hold them and then rolled window up and wedged some cardboard in between glass on both sides.
 
Are you reusing the old window felts? New window felts should fit very tightly to the body of the car.
 
not reusing felts , bought new "cat whisker" brand. they looked straight putting them in, but seemed like they could easily bend.
 
does anyone have a pic. of the vent window next to door metal? similar to the pic. of mine.
