Hi folks!

I came across this plastic guide or wedge or whatever you call it. It sits on the bottom of the rear door glass SS trim. I am not sure but I think its purpose is to “block“ the glass in the run channel and keep it from rattling when glass is fully lowered into the door. Or is this wrong?

However, I miss this plastic piece on the passenger side. Driver‘s here. Do I really need it? The FSM nowhere mentions this thing.

Hard to tell from the picture and you didnt say what year you are working on but I would guess this was a bush fix for the last person that had the car apart. The proper way to adhere the trim to the window is with glass setting tape.

Question is not how to install the trim on the door glass with setting tape.

It is the white (yellowish) plastic piece on the trim in the picture of the first post. It has a serial number too and seems to be cast. I doubt it was any cheap fix from a previous owner...

car is a 68 b-body hardtop.

The nylon spacer seems to be a model year specific piece as the question came up over on Charger.com. It was a factory installed piece to work as you have described. I do not recall the details that were determined, but the information provided would document the function of the piece.

Thanks, this helps me a lot!

Do you know why the factory didn‘t use it after 1968?

Both door glass trim pieces have the slots for this guides.

Can I just assemble the door glass without it? Or will it rattle?

E-Bodies used virtually the same piece of nylon and spring to put pressure onto the assembly. I would suggest putting a link out under the looking to buy section and see what turns out. Not sure that they are called out in the parts manual, but I doubt it. Also, I am afraid that you will find out that they are right and left specific.

@69bfan is it true that post 68 models just didn’t use this nylone spacer? So, I could use my door glass without them and have no troubles (just in case)?
