Any know who D&L may be ?

On boss adjacent to my distributor the stampings are
4.350
10.700
D&L 440 2261

Can anyone confirm what these numbers mean and does anyone know who D&L is. If yes, I would be curious if they have records of engine rebuild.

4.35 is the bore, 10.70 is the deck height, d&l is probably the machine shop that did the work.

Google D&L Auto machine or something similar in the area where previous owner lived. Then phone them to if they stamp blocks like that.

Trw (and federal mogul) pistons are usually i.d.ed by four digits. Maybe 2261 is the piston number for the 440. My old trw catalog is a long ways away, or i would look it up.
Or maybe a phone number without an area code?
