Didn't post in the wtb, I know that they are out there. Price and condition vary from cheap to very expensive. I just want a pair for the 69 440 that are correct if possible, seal, and I can make an add without using a thimble. eBay is scary. Guide me to a reputable seller.

Any experience with AMD? Historically these are very difficult to seal, nothing but leaks.
Drivers side firewall the worst.
No...I have not gotten valve covers from AMD. The 2 sets I got were for my 71 Chrysler and the 73 Charger. Both have been tight and haven't leaked since new.

Where were those sourced?

3white74 has some listed, his rating is excellent.
He always seems to have good stuff.
Get the Moroso blue re-useable gaskets, they are pricey but will solve your problems.

Dennis, do you have aluminum heads with rockers that require tall valve covers? The sealing surface on aluminum heads is superior to cast iron. So, the gasket is not as big an issue. One tried and true gasket is the thick Fel-Pro rubber coated fiber thick gaskets glued to the valve cover and no sealer on the head side. I have one on the passenger side and a Moroso steel core rubber on the driver side with not leaks but the FelPros are half the price.

Dennis, mine are 906 heads which are stock cast iron heads. I'm no expert but the cast iron heads seem to all be the same shape and size 6 bolt with crappy, rough sealing surface that is not quite flat on top. I understand you primarily want valve covers that seal, are able to accept oil easily, and have a nice appearance that is easy to maintain.

You could by some Edelbrock valve covers to match your EFI system. I bought their chrome covers for my El Camino 3550 and used the Fel Pro thick gaskets and have no leaks. Just run through a few heat cycles and re-torque each time, as needed. (I think you told me about using that method.) Maybe buy the plain ones and ship them to @CudaChick1968 for a fine powder coat paint job. Leann could also tell you which ones tend to crack at the flange.

Are you interested in these? A classic aluminum valve cover that was on my Road Runner when I got it. Dirt comes free of charge.
You'll owe me a beer though next year around end of September! :drinks:
