Hi all. I am purchasing a 1969 Charger, turquoise blue white top, rust free except the trunk, 318 c.i. car in primer auto on console no engine or trans. Needs interior kit dash pretty nice. Was wondering if paying $18,500 is a little too much or good deal. I guess having a little buyers remorse maybe. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You mention buyers remorse, can I take it you have already bought this car? My opinion is with the outrageous prices of 68-69 Chargers at present your probably good, especially if this is what you want and have no immediate desire to flip it. If you're looking to make a quick buck, then you are stuck with it for awhile.

good deal if you already have a power plant ready to go. my 2 cents

Get what you want, if it's hard to find, jump on one when it presents itself.
Unless you are buying to make a profit, and you're buying because you want a 69 Charger, congratulations!
Be glad you have one and get on with it!
:xscuseless:

That's right. They're not making them anymore.

Congratulations!

Sounds good to me. How about posting up a few pictures?

it's a loaded question without pictures. is every piece of trim including grill, bumpers ,lights shot to hell ? how much of the car is usable? is it structurally sound ? glass good?

That's a lot of cash but.......I have close to 30.000 in my challenger with body and paint, chrome ,tires, some new body parts, top(convertible) and new engine, and I did lots of sheet metal welding and built the motor myself. I also assembled the car mostly myself and It still needs some trim repaired and new upholstery on the seats (what's there is ok for now) sooooo.....your just at the shallow end of the pool right now. Like they say speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

I think you could have done better. Did you buy based on emotion rather than logic?

Mine came with the original 383, a 727, a 3.55 Sure Grip 8 3/4" axle and is mostly complete.

I think yours is the exception. Those deals rarely pop up for the average Joe.

That said, I'd suspect he overpaid without seeing pictures. Turquoise with white top/ interior is a fantastic color combo. Rust in the trunk, probably rusty filler panel and window corners. I don't see them getting any cheaper that's for sure.

A buddy had a green 318 68 Charger, AZ car, complete, unrestored. Ran and drove that I didn't think was worth more than $8000 at the time. He sold it for $13k in less than a week. That was 12 years ago and I thought the buyer was nuts.

Can give zero advice without pics. Chargers are among the most expensive bbody so in that regard okay. But let’s see what you actually have in living color. Then we could guide you....

OK, I give up. I owe you all an explanation. I will also have to ask for your forgiveness on this subject also. A guy on craigslist had a rust free 69 charger 318 for sale and it was a little high on price but rust free and a perfect dash and any running motor and trans to go with it it I wanted to put in it. The wife didn't want me to get it but said I guess so I put $1,500 down quickly as many other people wanted it and was really excited to finally get a charger. Next day is when I posted this to get input that I should have sought before the down payment but this is how it went. As posts came in I didn't even have the car yet because I needed time to get there: 700 miles away. A week and a half went by enough for my wife to think about and she was absolute about me not getting the car and I won't go into the details but she won. Lost my deposit and was hoping this post would just go away but it didn't. I am sorry for letting it go on.

You may have dodged a bullet on this car but you let the Wife tell you what to do? Really?

Live and learn. Now that you know where we are, come ask questions before putting money on the line. I think you would be money ahead funding one already done, especially a 318 car.

The following thread will give you a flavor of what shows up in public ads; and it is updated with new ads when something interesting pops up.
