How to launch a 4 speed with 323 gears

How to launch a 4 speed with 323 gears ?

Like this...... (skip to 15 sec)

Like already stated, you'll just have to roll out then floor it. Any set-up has it's limitations whether it's stock or full blown. It is what it is and forcing what you have will only wear or break things. As you build on what you have with different gearing, horse power adders and suspension improvements, then you can start watching Ronny Sox videos to see how it's done. :moparsmiley:

The first video is "idling" out a couple of feet and standing on the gas. My outboard carbs come in perfectly, every time, but there's a little bit of a delay.
This was 3.54 gears:

Same here, but around 1200 RPMs to roll out, a few feet, then on the floor:

This was with the new 4.10 gears:

And lastly, the 3.54s and T/A radials, when it all goes up in smoke:

"launch" and "3.23 gears" do not belong in the same sentence.

I use to bracket race at Luskville Qc every Sunday ('79, '80, '81) with my 2.94's @ 99/100MPH traps.

My RR would blow the tires off. Put 8" slicks on it and it would just bog no matter what. Stuck a 4:56 gear in it and it would finally launch

Wet those tires just enough to get it moving. Just how much mist will take some practice. By no means get any on the track. The officials will go ballistic.

I love it how so many people brag about how their car does this & that, goes so fast and all the rest of the BS story....and yet they are the same ones who cannot post up any pictures or video of their exploits.

Post up, or shut up IMHO. :upyours:

I would have taken vid. but they hadn't released the super 8 gopro yet!

you don't bring a thoroughbred to a barrel race!you can peddle it once with the clutch dump, but you'll never be consistent!

My neighbors must think I am crazy.:realcrazy: Up and down the street all afternoon.

I have been trying different things in the set up to stop the bogging. My base timing was at 18°, tried upping it to 20°, little help if any. Raised the primary floats to a little above half glass. Helped little if any. The bog felt like a rich bog. Changed the squirters to 25's from the stock 31's. That seemed to help the most. Or maybe a combination of it all. Tomorrow I going to try moving base timing down to 15° and see how it responds.

check the squirter cam for acc, a kit with i think 5-6 cams would help fine tune the acc, squirt.

I know what you mean...for me they say I have an OE car too....when pressed for pictures all I hear are crickets....or some lame excuse....

Roger there are some people who routinely contribute and there are a lot that just run around dumping Nobel sense posts....

Let me define what is my bog. Car not moving, engine at 3000 RPM, Letting the clutch out slowly as I apply more gas. As the clutch starts to engage car begins to move, as the clutch fully engages the engine rpm's decrease as engine labors to catch up.

That will take practice. I have the natural urge to fully press the throttle.

My 72 has shorter tires on it. Cooper Cobra 275/60-15, 28" tire. Would the 1" shorter tire help me that much?

It is unlikely you'll be able to make your "bog" go away with what you working with unless you slip the clutch, but I don't think your's will be able to do that in its current condition.

Keep practicing and you'll find what's best for what you've got. And like already mentioned, be patient on the full throttle.

this count? Granted I wasn’t power shifting and came off the line a bit soft. Things I was working on until the trans gave up.
