Hi Everyone,

Long day on the car, but here is my issue of the day.....

I have a 66 Belvedere II, Big Block and my Steering Column is in need of repair. I have a Column Shift and Power Steering. As the steering is sloppy, I was checking the steering coupler for slop & wiggle (YES) as well as the bearings (Yes, need that too), and I also have a loose shift level on the column, etc,etc.etc. What I found led me to believe that I should get a complete steering column. I am now of the mind to purchase a rebuilt / new column, but I can't locate any. I've searched via Summit, Jegs, Napa, Steer/Gear, Firm Feel to start, then went to the internet to find a vendor. I found several vendors that have Floor shift, but Column shift appears to be asking for the moon. In desperation, I did go to Flea-Bay and found some that are advertised, but need some expert advise. See example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/KEYED-1962...irated&hash=item3d88a85b03:g:PoUAAOSw9MpctaXQ

Since i have power steering, I am unsure of the length ( I have seen anywhere between 28" to 33').......and NONE of these vendors say anything about Manual vs. Power. I'm at a loss as I don't want to pull my old one just to measure because I still need to move my car between garages.

Does anybody know of any companies that sell this complete steering column, or perhaps know of a quality rebuilder?
Your thoughts and advise would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

That is a GM conversion column there on Ebay.
I probably have a good used 66, column shift, power steering unit..

The 66 column is narrower than 67 and later. I think I have a 66 pwr steering column but worry about shipping costs. Might not be able to confirm for a couple of weeks. Seems strange that you have all those worn out parts. Any 66 b body column shift pwr steering would work. Good luck

Just shipped a column from Tennessee to California 35 bucks UPS

ME: I am a little lost on the CM conversion issue, can you please give me a quick tutorial, or....provide me a URL to that one you are referring to? Also, I'm still lost on what should be the LENGTH of the column.
You also mentioned that you may have one, .....I'm interested. Price, condition, pic's?

Thank you,

If you do end up with a non-original column it might be worth getting a collapsible one while you're at it. I often wonder where the fixed column in mine would end up in a crash - probably in my head!

Thank you,

The one in your Ebay link is a GM conversion. Looks like a Chevelle column wired for Mopar. I've never tried one so can't go from experience but looks like it will require so mods to fit.
I got your PM and will check my stock tomorrow to see what all I have. Thanks

440 4 speed is referring to the cost of shipping from Canada might be costly which it probably would.
