Clive has died at the age of 88. What a loss to his family and to the world. More than 70 books, over 100 million sold. Dirk Pitt and NUMA are in mourning...His work has been in collaboration with a couple of younger authors of late, including his son Dirk, so hopefully the series will continue...

Just read this one..

Nooooooooo
One of my favorite authors. I have most of the original Dirk Pitt novels in hard back.
Truly a great loss.

RIP. Great author in his genre. I've read quite a few of his and his son's books. I always got a kick out of the fact that Clive named his real life son after the hero in his series. Or maybe he named the hero after the son???? Anyone know?

I have enjoyed many of his books. Hopefully his son picked up on his dad's style to some degree.

One of my favorites, I have almost everything he has written and got to attend a lecture and book signing a few years back. May he rest in peace, he brought a lot of adventure to peoples' ordinary lives through his stories.

RIP Clive

never heard of that author, oh well

I ain't got that kind of time. Too busy working and taking care of all of the other stuff. When I do have time to sit still, I fall asleep.
I used to be just like that. Come home at whatever hour, shower, eat, spend and hour or so with wife and kids, then bam, out like a light. Up at 0400 to get the uniform ready, and get out the door to PT, Physical training...

R.I.P.

He also has a fabulous car collection of classics, and seemed to weave one of them into a lot of his books.

Read”em all.....he was a great collector and awesome author

Never heard of Clive, until this thread popped up yesterday, and yeah, do not have the life style to relax, and sit back and read for pleasure, most of my reading content goes to tech articles and wiring diagrams. Caught a bit of the Expedition Unknown, show on Discovery channel last night. The episode was based on the DC-4 missing in lake Michigan, lost on June 24 1950. Well up pop's, Clive's name, and pictures, apparently, he was a bit of a treasure hunter, and donated time and money, to try and locate the wreckage.
Quite the story, worked at Douglas back in the 80's, so, that episode did catch my eye.
