Mannix Dart Article

Cool car, I still watch Mannix reruns late-night TV occasionally

I like 68 Darts too, Mini RR's :poke:

There were lots of cool cars on Mannix, the show is on ME TV at 2am on the east coast. There were some 69 and 70 Chargers on There as well as a great chase scene where a guy in an orange 71 Road Runner is chasing Mannix in his 71 Cuda convertible. There was atleast two 69 Dart convertibles that were used on the show, one had GTS emblems on the front fenders one did not. The 68 Dart convertible was originally a red car,on an episode where someone cut his brake lines, the engine bay was red. All of the Dart convertibles were customized by George Barris. The Cuda convertibles were likely all 70 Cudas originally, then were updated to look like 71 Cudas, note the absence of fender louvers, then updated again to look like 72 Cudas. He switched to a 72/73 Challenger sunroof car, with the high back bucket seats swapped out for filming reasons, then he switched to a Camaro in 74 until the end of the series. In the first season he drove a Mercury convertible, and in the second season he drove another Barris creation, a customized Olds Toronado convertible. My wife has been using the DVR to record them, and we have been watching them regularly. Mopar was big on marketing their products on television and in movies.

.....I barely remember this show as a kid in re-runs.....grandma never let me watch it, because she said it was too violent.....hehe.

I remember seeing one scene when Mannix is driving a 70 Charger that looks like it was painted off white with a spray can,and had goofy hubcaps from a C body on it. He crashes the car,but when it goes off the cliff the Charger becomes a 68 Satellite!

.....I'm sure the set guy drove off with the 70 Charger...

Certainly alot better than this bucket of bolts.
