80's Music Anyone?

I was a stark raving metal head throughout most of the 80's, but I also liked some other stuff.

I didn't realize until a few years ago how much I liked "The Fixx" and how many good songs they had.

The really do personify the 80's but they also still hold up today.

Currently touring.

...and Judas Priest put on GREAT shows with loads of audience participation as late as 2011.
That was the last tour with founding guitarist KK Downing.
The new guy is pretty good technically but might not have the same amount of soul.
Glenn Tipton, the other nearly founding guitarist has Parkinson's and will likely never be the same.

I'm afraid they are pretty much done as we remember them.

I've seen them about a dozen times since 1982 and only once did I think they gave less than 110% and that was the year they played 275 dates in one tour year at the age of 60 plus!

Crank this one up and feel the drums in your soul.

I used to blast this in my 66 Coronet on Friday night while hunting street race targets.

Most bands would love to have JP's "filler material" as the "single" on their album.

Awesome song overshadowed by the hits from this album.

Actually there's not one bad song on this album.

I saw Judast Priest every time they came through Detroit since about 82 till 90ish. I saw them last summer at Freedom hill witch is a small out door place....they were damn good!

Agree but Killing Machine/Hell bent For Leather is 1979 :(

I saw-

82 Screaming
84 Defenders
86 Turbo
87 Monsters of Rock?
88 Ram It
92 Painkiller (Scott Travis)
97 Demolition (Ripper Owens)
04 Ozzfest featuring the 1969 Black Sabbath lineup w/ Toni Iommi
08 Resurrection? (took wife for first time- she LOVED it)
11 Last show with KK
15 First show with Ritchie Faulkner

I think that's it.[/QUOTE]

Wish there was a period video with that smokin' hot outro-

Wow, a few I had overlooked! The Fixx had a truly original guitar player, you can pick his sound out of the crowd. “Saved by Zero” and “One Thing Leads to Another” are great songs.
Saw Def Leppard for Pyromania tour. Great show, and I was with the most beautiful girl that I ever dated. And her crazy cool sister.
Scorpions are still amazing, and their live performance of Dynomite(sp?) is right up there with Priests Painkiller for getting my heart beating. But here’s some obscure stuff for ya...
In the late seventies and eighties Canada had a lot of bands that were huge in this country, but never really broke out internationally. Sure, BTO, Bryan Adams and a few others were known, but bands like Prism, Trooper, Streetheart, Toronto, Harlequin and The Spoons used to sell out arenas every night. Anyway...
Prism was headlining. I saw them probably five times, great live band. A British band called City Boy was warm up, and none of us had heard of them before. They were touring on The Day The Earth Caught Fire album. They came out and absolutely blew us away. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen around fifty big shows. When they were done literally everyone around me was saying that we may as well just go home, because there’s no way Prism can top that. Check them out, City Boy. The Day The Earth Caught Fire. On a great stereo with analog sound it’s brilliant.
Nearly the same thing happened when Living Colour opened for the ‘Stones. With Vernon Reid on guitar they absolutely killed. Not better then the Stones, but good. Very, very good. He was the equal of Hendrix or Stevie Ray on guitar. Made it look easy.

Oh, you may hate me for this. I am after all, a metal head.
1983
Cyndi Lauper “She’s so Unusual “ album. A ton of great songs, and the production is fantastic. On a quality stereo with analog source material like cassette or vinyl it’s beautifully crafted.

I saw them at the LA Coliseum, Reid did the soundcheck and blew everybody away.
Funny, there a couple of older guys behind us that said who the hell is this guy when he came out.
He rocked the house.
