1973 dodge charger 318 small block car.... is there anywhere other than firm feel to get torsion bars? my front don't sag, but i would like to stiffen it up a little, add a sway bar and help it corner a little better..... i have been told to get a BB torsion bar and that will stiffen it up, but i also don't want the front to sit high. i just don't want it to bounce when i hit bumps because my long tubes hit the ground.. currently it sets right about factory ride height...

PST sell them, you'll get a member discount too.

which would be a good rate(diameter) to get .. what is factory small block size and factory bb size?

I am at work so I don't have my books to get that info but both are smaller than those listed. If sticking with the small block 1.03 would be a good upgrade, even 1.08 with good shocks, larger sway bar, and solid or poly k-frame mounts would really help the car.

i already put poly everything up front including k member mounts

Here is the stock torsion size chart.

PST 1.03" bars are nice.

i looked on PST and i only seen the shorter bars for 72' and older.. 73 bars are longer
That's strange - they have them for '72 Chargers, but no listing for '73 Chargers. The '72 is listed at 41" length. They also sell 44" long bars for C Bodies. Maybe it's just the website - how long are the '73 bars?

Throw on a decent size sway bar, add much better shocks and crank up your present bars a bit for some better ground clearance. If you still don't like that, then throw in bigger torsion bars. I don't like my car riding like a truck to I have a tendency to work with smaller than the huge torsion bars.

43.6" per the chart above.

I believe they are 43.6"

I agree. I have .98 bars in mine I took out of a 77 charger and they ride fairly stiff even with a 440

I don't want to crank front up any higher. I like where it is.. Has good shocks on it.

The reason for the different length bars was not the engine size but a suspension change in 1973 for the B-body platform. The length would be the same regardless of engine size for a given year. Only its diameter changed. That is what makes a torsion what it is. It is a rod that twists like a rubber band. the larger diameter the bar, the harder it is to twist. It would be like the difference between a thin coil spring and a thicker coil spring. The thicker one is harder to compress.
