Common Sense

This common sense deal reminds of the story of the elderly couple that drove their car over a cliff because the GPS told them to... This is what happens when the sheep breed; you get a large quantity of idiots who cannot think for themselves and desperately want someone else to tell them what to do, how to act, etc.
 
Its sad they were told ... would have gone a long way towards culling the herd and increasing the average IQ level of the U.S.
 
The husband that died taking disinfectant his wife is under investigation. Murder?

You need to do a little more research on this one. a) it was a woman b) she initially only wanted McD's to pay her dry cleaning bill. Their refusal led to the lawsuit and the ridiculous settlement - which was decided upon and awarded by the jury !!

My wife is an attorney and I am a forensic engineer. I often ask my wife what the legal aspects are in my cases. Should a pedestrian look where they’re walking to avoid a big bucket filled with sand next to an entrance door? Isn’t that common sense?!!! Her answer was “where is it mandated in the law that anyone must have “common sense”” and “what is it - whose definition should be used”?!!! These are two incomprehensible answers to an engineer. We have too many attorneys (not including my wife) in this country and not enough engineers.

Funny, just bought a car from a forensic engineer and previously never heard of it. He said there is no school for it he said you just gotta know how things work I guess by taking them apart...

His garage was full of an array of different things like sump pumps,electric motors etc. Actually pretty interesting. His place looked like he did quite well for himself.

Yea, you're on the wrong side of the term "engineer". Might say on the "oops" end of it.

I've worked with quite a few engineers being in the metal fabrication world and there are some who have common sense and a lot more who don't. For an example there will be a print of a machine that's to be built and there is a one inch hole drawn and a one inch pin to be used in the hole. I would head to the engineering department and ask the individual who drew up the plans which do you want, a smaller pin or a larger hole? Then comes the stupid look.

I came to the conclusion that you are born with common sense, you don't learn it. Someone who doesn't have common sense will struggle all through life. They have to make the same mistake over and over before they "get it". It's trial and error for them and all of the degrees in the world won't make a difference. Working with some individuals like this, I learned how to be kind and show them how something works or doesn't by physically showing them with an example. It's takes more time but hopfully you can get through to them and leave a lasting thought in their brain.

Did the employee spill the coffee into the vehicle?

What part of the Judge/jury couldn't use their common sense to choose to award the cleaning bill and a few hundred or thousand in "damages" rather than a grandstand award that set the plaintiff up for life on account of what sounds like a minor incident.

I'm no fan of big business pushing the consumer around, but that case was one of the first in the landslide of ridiculous rulings that created the law suit happy, "I'm victim and I'm gonna sue somebody" society we find our selves in today.

Yep, cnc programer couldn't understand why his program wouldn't work in the order he wanted. Had to be told you have to drill a hole before you can tap it.
 
A man should understand what kind of person idolizes him before he mentions doing something that can kill you.
