Local ladies out on their morning walk ran across this guy

Do you remember in Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons how the coyote would run in thin air for a few seconds before falling after he ran off of a cliff? That’s me and snakes. If there’s a snake in sight I will levitate off the freakin’ ground.

Damn that's a big old diamond back. I hope it's a dead one now, I know that camera doesn't shoot.

No, they left him alone. Gated community so no kids around. There’s a guy who works at the zoo who will remove them. His daughter is working on her masters in biology who also will come and remove them.

We make it a point not to kill them, good for the eco system. Keeps the desert rodents down. The California King Snakes are all over the place. They prey on rattlers.

The area where this guy was found is right on the desert. People water their lawns late at night and that attracts the animals at night.

i was dioing a cleanout here in western ny state one time
really swampy backyard, lots of vehicles sitting around.
as i opened the hood on one of the mopars,
a Huge snake came out of the rad area and wrapped itself around my arm and bit the F out of me.
you can imagine the scene,im dancing around screaming and waving my arm with this thing hanging on.
finally i managed to fling it off, after bashing it and my arm against the car repeatedly.
i went to the hospital, they said do you know what kind of snake it was?
no...it was Big and Bad...does that help?
nope...we cant help you....go home youll be alright.
so i went home and then fell asleep for 3 straight days........:wtf:
yall stay safe out there.

I got tagged by one of those about 40 years ago. No wheres that big by any means. But it sure packed a good bite. I was out of commission for a month after it bit. It was out at writing on stone park in southern Alberta.

yeah, there’s a species of Northern Pacific ratters up there. They get pretty big.

where I grew up they curled up on the breather of cars when parked awhile , or under any doors or tin car parts on the ground , after a couple of **** my pants scares . carried a gun and shot them ,had 2 little kids at home , good bye snake .

At least the desert rattlers will normally let you know when you are getting too close.

don't pet it :poke: you'll be fine

yeah we got them all over here too
Western Diamond Backs
or Timber Rattlers when they are big fuckers upcountry
they get big, 6' & 3" across is nothing
they love granite to sun themselves
& firewood piles/dead-fall, under rocks, in holes or shrubs to hide in

it's the little ones that don't have rattles are really bad
hard to see & you don't get any warning (rattle)
they bite everything & can't control the amount of venom

we had them really bad in Rancho Murieta CC in the Sac. Valley
all over the golf courses, pulled the pin out one time
& it had a 2' long adolescent wrapped around the bottom
glad someone didn't just reach down in the hole to get a ball or something

I'm used to being around them, grew up in areas we always had them
learned early in life to stay away, when possible
my dad use to keep a .22ca Ruger pistol with snake shot & kill most of them
I've never been that type...

Now them that bite my dogs or one would have bit my kid/s
I'd blow it the **** out of existences...
Otherwise I let them bee...
Respect them...
I've had 2 of my labs bitten by them, both bitten in the face
1 was in Rancho Murieta & the other right in my back yard up here
both dogs survived fine, (I assume the snake did too, I didn't find a body)
but it's pricey at the vet....
I just warned my neighbors we had a snake in the area
some/they have kids & pet...

when they are shedding their skin, they are really aggressive,
blind sort of at the time

just be aware & don't **** with them
they don't like US as much as we dislike them

Its kind of hard to tell how big it is. Next time put your foot in the picture for a perspective.
