my Birthday is in mid July
my traditional birthday meal is usually
& it totally reminds me of summers of old,
especially while sitting/lounging outside by, or in the pool
while she cooks it & the smell coming out the window
(
it will vary from time to time, my older sister Lori, freaken' awesome cook
sort of started it, 1 year when I was like 14-15-ish & now after that,
I asked for it, most every year since, it's the decadent indulgences, I rare get anymore,
maybe a couple times a year at best or I'd weight 300+ #'s
southern fired chicken, deep fried preferably, crisp batter
Breasts & thighs are my favorite
fresh corn on the cob, with butter & lemon pepper & herbs seasoning
(use to always get it from Sloughhouse farms)
fresh homemade mash potatoes & gravy, from drippings
lemon meringue pie, from lemons fresh off her tree, homemade crust
