Prostate Outpatient surgery at St Charles hospital on Monday

My wife does this stuff for a living, 35 years.
She says 32 is very high, but there are also many factors that can raise it besides cancer. Infection, and any “work” done to your prostate will bring it up. A digital (finger) exam will raise it, so there should be about a week between such an exam and testing. They like to take readings over several years and watch for a trend or change. It will gradually raise as you age.

A speedy recovery Auggie!

I've heard too many bad results from the "Rotor Rooter". This looks like a much better way.

I had a biopsy about ten years ago and it was the worst thing to go through. The Dr kept asking his assistant for more sample containers and I kept replying with "you only said a couple of samples". I'm thinking he took six to eight. I thought I was going to die by the last one. Argggg!

Now my older brother had a large tumor in his so they removed it with the Davinci Robot. Same day surgery, went home and only took one pain pill that night. Said he's pissing like a teenager again. The robot doesn't cut as many nerves as regular surgery so there's less nerve damage, less pain.

As far as PSA numbers, I was told that eveyone is different. When you first get tested, it is what it is. It's your baseline and you watch what it's doing from that time foward. Mine actually dropped two points last visit. I can't find my last test results at the moment but I believe it was 28 now. Different meds you take can enlarge the prostate also. I take a low dose of prednisone and I know it effects how I pee.

They are doing some great things out there now days. You have to have a good Dr who keeps up with the latest developments. Good luck with your peeing and thanks for sharing the procedure.

Remembering back when i went thru the prostate biopsy, 12 "snips" are supposed to be taken.
At snip number 5 to 12, i blacked out.
Looking back, I'm glad that i did, black out.
Then at the end, all i remember is hearing, "were done"
Whew.

The Dr freaked out with the 32 reading. He proposed all kinds of sadomasochist sounding "procedures" he could perform. I ended up choosing the....what sounded like anyway.....least "invasive"one which was an MRI. Well, they stuck something up there then inflated it! I thought they were tearing my insides out, the pressure that was applied to the prostate hurt like hell. Bottom line is there is no cancer. I'm hoping this euro lift is something Kaiser is behind doing because my prostate is absolutely ENLARGED.

See if Dr. is willing to massage it. if its just swollen..the gland is inflamed. push out the blockage and see what happens. I would do this first before having a wire cage put in. If you think about long term, prostate will continue to swell, and force its way past wire cage and back to square one. I guess I look at it as a tree that grows into a chain link fence kinda thing. Then you still have a problem, but more so with a medical device inside.

Well, the Dr says Kaiser does this procedure but the limit is 91ml in size and mine is 142ml!!!!!!!!! I hesitate to ask this sadomasochist about anything LIKE a "prostate massage"! Something just does not sound right about that............

Its not fun... when Dr said massage I thought ok it wont be too bad... then he pushed and I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head. It hurts.. but its not horrible. Gives Dr a chance to check for lumps.. yes you cannot have psa test after the massage... numbers are way off.
Just an option for those with prostatitis.
I look at it this way if women can get checked out once a year.. I can get this done.
