looking at getting a main girdle how important and do I need one on a RB engine

A man girdle? Oh a main girdle!

What kind of horsepower are you going with. What kind of abuse is it going to get? Racing or street use?

700-1000 HP, better plan on an aftermarket block and one hell of an aftermarket manual trans...

In my humble opinion...
700hp is at the ragged edge of factory 440 block durability, and thats with every good lower end part you can throw at it. A thick main 400 block might last a little longer. If youre serious about 800-1000hp, a good aftermarket block is mandatory, if you expect more than a few passes. Good luck finding such an animal, however. Aftermarket blocks are why there are a hundred 1000hp bbc for one bbm.

im shooting for about 700 to 1000 hp in a 64 b body 4 speed strip use only

Right there is the tried, true and proven recipe for spending money to go slow and break lotsa parts

as mentioned
about 700hp is at the ragged edge of factory 440 block durability, girdles are band-aids much past 700 hp
and
833-spd's although a tough trans, just end up breaking increasing driveline incidence of repairs $$ with slower ET's for 95% of drivers than a well-prepped Auto/High Stall setup.
You ever attempting shifting a 833 behind 800-900-1000hp ?

The SS A/Stick stuff is pretty trick and $$ spendy.... so unless that's where you wanna go ?
you may be well advised to reconsider opting for the consistency and faster ET's the Auto/Converter setup will offer you when Bracket Racing ?

I totally agree with you and others what they have told me ( that's why my 70 duster is a auto 10 sec 1/4 mile ) 700hp + might be pie in the sky wishes the car is is going to be exhibition and fun straight axel injected big block stick more for the antique drags not bracket even 18 spline 833,s are crazy high prices

The 700+ hp ain't a problem.... we do it all the time... 700... 800... 900+ Wedges.... and with a good Block/Parts they are very reliable,
Just say'in.... IMO, you are a brave individual
Because I know of not one of the ones we've built ? or their Owners who Race from Vegas all the way to Brainerd and back to Mission ? who would attempt stuffing an 833 behind any of them ?

True Story....
THIS one we originally built back in the 90's..... we typically "freshen" it about every 700-800 hits.
Back in 2009 it actually sheared off the rear 8 Bolt Crank flange right behind the #5 Main !
It was even still running.... albeit couldn't go anywhere because of the driveline disconnect obviously.... and once shut off NO restart LOL !
And that was WITH an Auto/High Stall setup running high 8's.
So we prepped and installed a new Crank/Freshened.... and away it went again all good as seen here.
Just say'in....
shock loads are hard on parts ! and especially with slicks on a prepped track at those power levels..... 833's are NOT advised.
