When was the engine rebuilt and who did it?

Curious - it's an auto with a Dana rear end? Was that an option or was the Dana added sometime over the years? Beautiful car.

This post includes information from a few members here.

AX- 48. 3.23 8-3/4 suregrip. upgraded to a Dana 60.
The AX "48" axle code on the fender tag looks like a 3:23 Sure grip in the book. Not born with a Dana but a 8 3/4.
4 is the axle and ratio and the 8 is the sure grip.
A 3,6 or 7 denotes Dana rears.

According to this, the 60 was std with 4 speed cars....not mentioned as an option or not with the auto trans. I know for a fact that the Hemi engine with an automatic in 1970 E body cars came std with the 8 3/4 with the 60 being an option behind the auto trans. Also, there wasn't a 3.23 available with the 60's during that time.

354 dana only in 67/68

66-68 Automatic Hemi cars came with 8 3/4. 1969 was the first year of the optional "Super Performance Axle Package" for automatic Hemi cars and it included a 4.10 Dana 60 among other bits.

The car is for sale regardless of the axle or other equipment. The pics show how the car is now, regardless of how it was equipped from the factory.
