So this engine would have had to have been for Dick Brooks' Daytona, as it was the only winged car entered in 1971. The engine would have ran as a 305(destroked 340), per the rules for aero cars. Keith Black was responsible for those engines originally, so makes sense. Too bad the crank isn't with it.
Joey Arrington
Somewhere we have the original crank and rods for that block. Just to throw that out there

custom made cranks. They pretty much were all made to order for Gurney or Keith Black. As far as I know, the cranks were never actually offered by Chrysler

Original T/A Keith Black Block Raced in Winged Dodge in 1971 at Daytona. The T/A blocks had thicker webs for the ability to install 4 bolt mains. 1970 was the staple year for the 340, as it carried the highest performance numbers of its life. Mopar added a higher-performance version named the Trans Am (T/A) edition, or Six-Pack on Plymouth models.

Link to the actual ad for the block:

Well, we all know the Arrington name and that's a T/A block for certain....

Yea I was curious too if this is smoke up someones *** or legit? It's gotta be pretty hard to prove some of this **** even if its true.

I wonder how many 305s Keith Black actually built? He made a bunch for Trans Am racing.

I’ve seen the T/A - AAR complete engines (needing rebuilt) go for $5,000 before.
I know nothing about Keith Black or being used in a Daytona.

A Daytona always needs a big block IMHO. Even if I owned an X NASCAR stock car it would have to be a big block. However. I am not a show poodle, trailer queen, numbers correct kind of guy.
