This is goes against everything I stand for.
Ugh, so in my opinion our gas/fuel prices are going be astronomical in the near future so with a heavy heart, I may have to get rid of my 06 dakota I've had for 12 years, Cummins is off limits and wife wants to keep her Wrangler(No Arguing! State Law!) and the 4XE isn't out yet and not in our price range. Teslas are way too expensive now I'm stuck with a Fusion or Volt plug in(15k is all I have). Wife drives 66 miles per day, I drive 12.
I cant belive im about to buy a non mopar, but does anyone have any experience with either?
Also whats up with the buy online cars? Can't even look at em, just ship to your house? F that!
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

good luck with that

I'm glad I'm not in that situation

Yeah it sucks, she pays 1100 a year to park at work too, so atleast we can **** em back a bit with free charging. Hate this but want to be ahead when the pumps at 4$ again.

If you can find one. 2018 Hyundai Ioniq

I appreciate the advice, but I won't do imports.
I only allow my moms Honda in my driveway(who say no to mom), everyone else walks 80 yards lol. Thanks though.

Your mom is smart, she drives a Honda! Nothing wrong with that for a daily that is reliable and gets great mileage. 440!

Her van has had two trans rebuilds. My adopted sister blew an engine in the other Honda.
I like Honda for small engines since there's no more Tecumseh, but thats it.

Second gen Prius, 2004-2009.
The original batteries are good up to 200K miles.
They are cheap ($2-3K)
They get 40+ mpg hwy/city

I'd rather slit my own throat than ride in a Toyota, let alone drive one. Sorry for my harshness but, see above posts.

How much mileage are you looking for, and for what purpose? You said you have a Dakota, how does that compare in mileage with a new Ram with e-torque v6?
At least if you end up with a Volt, you'll be getting something that Bob Lutz championed. If you can get a newer one, they kept making improvements throughout it's production. If you don't need the truck storage, you'll probably be happy with 0-60 in the 7 second range. Don't think of it as a Chevy, just as a Volt. :)

Lol, no the wife will drive it 33 miles and have a charging station during her shift, then 33 home. When it snows I gotta drive the shitbox 6 miles to work and 6 miles back, then she gets her jeep. I think I'm gonna end up in the shitbox more than I think cause she won't give up the JKU. Eventually we'll get the 4xe.

12 miles isn't enough to change cars, but 18,000 miles per year might be. Pencil it out and see. At $4 per gallon a 20 mpg will be $1,800 per year, $900 @ 40 mpg, a .10 per mile difference? Electric costs for that many miles averages $700. I shouldn't be doing math at this hour.

No she will be driving it most of the time, me only during bad snows, or I get out the cummins but no. I'm not good at typing i guess. She just wants to keep her Wrangler to be topless lol.

She drives 66 miles a day, I drive 12.

So I have a hybrid and all electric vehicle both let me save money for my classics.
All electric do the research ,size of vehicle and battery life. Bought mine 2 years ago and did NOT do enough research. I was told the battery would last 120 miles but now I only get 94 on a charge. It all depends on how fast u drive, do u use heater and ac while driving, fast acceleration all these things change your miles distance. If I was to buy another one it would hands down be a Tesla. I save 550 a month driving an electric car to work and get through using fast track.

Keep yer powder dry....I wouldn't be freaking just yet.

I wish I had cash for a Tesla, there were some I could buy in November, now they're gone. I'd like an X but I dont have 60k, at this time I'm not ready for big monthly payments. But I'll pitch it to the wife, we have a plan, hopefully one pops up in the next few months. Usually I buy and a better deal pops up weeks later lol

People are selling used Tesla’s due to they want to upgrade, if I’m not mistaking u also charge for free at Tesla stations, some / charging stations charge a fee. Teslas are fast charging 1/2 hour only , I plug mine into my welder port 220 takes 4 hours charger at night off peak. U set your time u want it to charge. And there always adding charging stations.

My wife drives a Chrysler Pacifica plug in hybrid so I can comment on some of our experience. I’m not sure in your state, but in Ohio it now costs almost 4 times more for annual vehicle license renewal as compared to a normal gas car. In the winter, your range will be less than you think. Batteries don’t work as well in colder weather which they compensate by heating them (uses battery power to heat the battery) If the HVAC is is like my wife’s van, it uses electric heating which drains the battery. If it gets too cold, it will start the gas engine to help reduce the battery draw for heating. All of this reduces your driving range.

I will say on nicer days with warmer temperatures, my wife’s van does amazing with gas mileage. Usually most of the summer it pushes 60mpg equivalent. This is with tons of idling while waiting to pickup kids. Not bad for a vehicle of its size.

Finally if you decide to get a plug in hybrid, a 220v outlet and level 2 charger is really nice to have. Change times on a standard 120v outlet for shorter range plug in hybrids like my wife’s van can take like 12-14 hours. This is like reduced to like 2 hours with the 220v charger. I will say it’s comical that we now get regular letters from the electric company that we use like double the amount of electricity that our neighbors do.

Keep yer powder dry....I wouldn't be freaking just yet.
I agee at the same time my Dakota has @220k on it, an 02 sensor thats impossible to reach hatched, your gonna laugh but my heated seat works intermittently, multifunction switch is fucked, cracked windshield and rusted out everything, starter spins freely half the time, manifold bolts are cracked, love beaters but If I can offload it before it doesn't run and save on gas I'm ok. I didn't want to be political, but its coming. I just want to be ahead if it really does.
