I want to convert my 67 Coronet from points to electronic ignition. It has the original 318 in place. Any recommendations on the best approach? I looked at Summit and they seem to have entire kits to make things easier, just don't know which kit is best. The kit does not come with the ignition coil. Thanks in advance

Because you don't necessarily need it. You are just changing the ignition, not the amount of fire. If you want a hotter spark then you change the coil or go to MSD systems or whatever.

I always recommend Pertronix as I have had great luck with the two I run. You pull out points and condenser and install pickup and hall effect, wire both wires to Flamethrower coil, gut or remove ballast resistor and you are in business.

Looks stock and easy to install. I would get the II or the III, which doesn't use the hall effect, is multi spark and has a rev limiter.

Pertronix II...

Perfect if your distributor is in good shape and the advance is working good. With those kits, you will have to reset your timing as it will be 10 or more degrees off, just by the orientation of the installed parts location.

Yeah another vote for Petronix or what I'm using, which is a Firecore distributor and MSD6 analog. No ballast resistor or ECU required...

Another one for pertonix, zero issues with mine. Nice all in one pieces.

I would go Pertronix also but if I did I would carry a set of points ,condenser and such in case the Pertonix goes belly up. I doubt you will find one on the shelf or any other aftermarket electronic ignition parts at a local parts store.
Why do you think you need it? What problems are you having with points?

Last time I looked our local O'Reilly's had the pertronix kit, although a lot cheaper on line.

Well maybe they have it but then you have to leave your car wherever it broke down and get it. Best to have it with you I would think.

I did a HEI conversion and love it. Other than r&r distributor very simple. Bump the key and it's running. Starts so fast you would think it's Fuel injected.

Good choice. You'll be happy with it.

Pertronix for the quick bolt and go. Not much is needed to be done as far as timing, etc. goes...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:
