Edelbrock's real reason for leaving Cal-I-For-Ni-a

There are no "young Elelbrocks" running the business. It is owned by a corporation and the family really has no say in how it's run. When Vic passed away the company told the family to move his on site car collection out of the building and they turned it into office space. I'm never surprised when I hear about a company moving out of California.

I still have some Craftsman tools from the mid 70s. Still work like new. I have to agree with most on this post. I’ve had 3 Craftsman boxes over the years. The older boxes had deep drawers so the deep sockets stood straight up and took less space. I finally got yired of buying mid boxes because I needed a ladder to get to top trays. I broke down and bought used Snap-On, not because was Snap-On but because it was 3 bay with stainless top. The old Craftsman boxes were great heavy steel but last box was very disappointing. I still have my old metal Craftsman hand box I cardy in truck. Its paint is faded but that thing is beast and indestructible. Good for Edelbrock and its smart business move

BS, they are leaving high Taxes California for no Taxes Mississippi and wages at half the California price. The Auto Industry did this with car plants in the deep south and Mexico. The Younger Edelbrocks running the company don't have the California loyalty of the founders, with them its all about the money.

California used to be heavy automotive and manufacturing. Ca let all that go away in the 1970s. Ca should be happy that Edelbrock stuck around this long. There was time drive through Fremont snd see GM cars waiting to be shipped out and tire and wheel companies along I-680. When states overcharge the business, the business has to make financial decisions. Good for Edelbrock

Ohio has been pretty conservative and business friendly, but you drive thru the cities here and they look like 3rd world countries.

Akron and Canton, Massillon, Youngstown, Cambridge, they all look like bombed out war zones.

Moved the industry south, then overseas.
Just to save pennies per unit.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Well, they usually move production, then close the plant. How hard is that to understand?
But allow me to elucidate;
I just drove by a company in Green township called Canton Elevator. As it's name might suggest, it was originally located in the city of Canton. It relocated 20 miles a few years ago. Unincorporated townships around here tend to offer tax breaks and other incentives for companies to do that.

Many car guys love to use Timken bearings, which were originally produced here, but are now made elsewhere, including in China.
In fact Timken relocated their corporate offices from Canton to the same area as Canton Elevator. No income tax.

I could do this all day long but it makes me sick to my stomach.

By the way, the part of the article about Timken spinning off the steel business, that move was forced in part by the Cali State Teachers Retirement System, a form of corporate black mail.

Not shocked by this.. Edelbrock is about 10 minutes from me - kinda sad to see it leave but completely understand why... same reason lots of companies are leaving.

There's an article in Hot Rod about it quoted in part below. Sounds like a major consolidation of performance parts under new corporate management based in TN. Moreover, still manufacturing in CA.

"As the Edelbrock administrative offices relocate to a 300,000-square-foot facility, most of the manufacturing processes will transfer to San Jacinto, California, the site of Edelbrock's aluminum foundry. A new Edelbrock Southern California Tech Center is scheduled to open in Cerritos, California, at the end of March."

You act like more taxes are good. Remember, any tax a company pays is actually paid by their customers.

Yeah good for Edelbrock and screw the consumer. I haven't seen any price reductions to pass on the savings just the buildings alone they sold for Hundreds of Millions and bought new for half that amount in Mississippi.

I give you credit, the tool trucks that came to my Father's shop always had repo stuff and stories about getting burned by deadbeats they gave credit too. Stress probably played a big part of your heart problems. Sipping Buffalo Trace is much more soothing, I'm sure.

They have repo stuff because their stuff is stupid expensive. I have a friend who had a 3000 dollar toolbox. they offered him 3500 bucks for it and sold him a 11000 box with an interest rate that was stupid. his tool box and tools are insured for more than 50,000 dollars. I gave him one of my Ingersoll Rand impact guns , which he uses everyday for the last 10 years since I gave it to him. He works at a Chrysler dealership. Their stuff is good, but, not that good.

It's not only the tools, they want the interest. They make more money on the interest than they do the tools. Those guys that sell from dealer to dealer screw the **** out of those guys. Easy payment plan, now and till forever at over 10 percent............... Your right, if you buy, you owe them to pay.
