This picture is bullshit.

First of all, There are no humans on that planet to build it. The materials for construction don't exist there either. Transporting that amount of concrete, brick, sheetrock, paint and everything else would completely bankrupt the entire planet of Earth. The working conditions there are impossible.
What about the inventory? How long do you think it would take to transport all the products and to stock the shelves? The food would be spoiled long before it even gets placed on the shelves. ALL plastic products would shatter due to the extreme cold of the planet.
Who would you get to staff the place?
Who would be a customer?
This is a very poor business plan.
I just cannot understand why WalMart would even entertain this idea.
This is so outrageous, it might as well be a Photoshop.

Duh, UPS!

Who let the cute girl in the white pants into the room full of nerds?????

The shell for the craft was made just down the road from you at Lockheed Martin.
Worked there from 1996 - 2005, then started back there again 3 years ago. So I'm biased on the subject. Did not mean it to get political. Just thought it was a cool achievement.

Let's not.lose sight of the fact that this money could have been better spent elsewhere, perhaps to help our veterans. That would be an achievement and at the moment, it seems like an unsolvable problem.
Good points but.. if we're ever able to travel to an inhabitable planet these are the stepping stones that will have made it possible. I look back at growing up in the 80's and think about the computers, rotary phones, carbureted engines, corny video games then look at what is possible tofay. 3D printers, phones that can be worn as a watch, flat screen TV's, cars that are not only super efficient but also have every comfort you can imagine, internet access from virtually anywhere... It's truly amazing! Who knows what this could eventually lead too?

Uhhh.....It is NOT just any one race that abuses the Blue spaces.

Let's also not lose sight of the fact that this money wasn't put into an incinerator and burned. It went towards employing thousands of people with much of that money trickling back in taxes. It helped invent new things, advance science and likely helped a lot of veterans with some of that new science.
Yes, we need more new things. Helping vets and likely helping vets are two different things. The question is whether or not a bureaucracy with annual budget of over 20 billion is cost effective.

Without this ‘NASA science stuff’ you wouldn’t be on the net, on this site, have a cell phone, information at the tip of your finger, gps or ALL the things you take for granted today.!!
Don't have a cell phone, don't use gps. The information available is astounding. It can also be learned from books. The internet has also brought the financial and medical record theft, and identity theft. It is also producing a generation people who know very little and have trouble doing practical things.

Yet here YOU are.

You must be one of five in the whole world

I wonder if posting this here will mess up the discussion of this event?
