what no pictures of Fred
Heck, I figured y'all had to be sick of Fred pics by now.
This day had actually started at about midnight the night before, when the same line of storms
that had spawned all those terrible tornados came rolling though here.
Such was the volume of water, PLUS the direct-hit lightning strikes all around us up here on the ridge,
it got rocking pretty hard and had the dog, wife and all pretty riled up, so no sleepin' for me...
it also meant I spent 3 hours or so on the tractor this morning, clearing debris and putting the roads
back into some semblance of order, since I'm actually about the youngest resident left on our little
one lane county road - and of course, I have the tractor, so....default road department.
Got done, went back inside to do some "paying" work, then headed to the garage later on.
Oil changin' time!
I spent the time while waiting on the oil to all drain by going over the car and cleaning the winter
garage funk off him.
Love me some Meguire's Quick Detail; that's the sort of stuff a non-professional like me can operate.
One microfiber for cleaning, followed by a fresh dry one to "polish" afterwards.
It occurred to me today, given our recent discussion on how some get vertigo when laying under a car
working, to try and get the job done and get outta there as efficiently as I could, so I went under there
exactly twice - once to get things draining and the filter loosened, then later to button everything back
up - bingada, bangada, boom.
I had a telltale piece of cardboard under there to indicate any leaks later, so I wasn't concerned - but
at the same time, just like with the shifter job recently, it was weird - I just
knew things had all gone
well the first time and trusted my work enough to not get back under there to check afterwards.
By the time my wife rolled in to the bay next to me after work, fussing about being hungry, Fred had
already been cleaned up and gotten his
5.68 litres (

)of fresh oil poured in.
Is it just me - or can you honestly tell how much better a car runs after an oil change?
Off to the local Mexican joint for dinner, enjoying the rest of the day - and again, thanks to the Man
Upstairs AND so many FBBO folks, I was blessed to experience it.

It ain't such a bad gig...
