Hi all,
I'm in California, and recently bought a '73 Satellite...was told all the parts were there...but...not quite! Lol! It doesn't matter, it's still a cool project. It has a new Blueprint 408 crate engine, 4 speed,(Pistol-grip!) (They cut the hole in the wrong place!) The Torsion bars have been replaced with tubular "A" frames rack and pinion stuff...still not sure if I like that or not, but's got to be 100lbs lighter in the front. I have a great long-time mechanic working on it.
I'm looking for parts...like crazy. I would love to find a complete rear axle assembly...a sure-grip, with 3.55 gearing would be awesome. --I've having a hard time finding pulleys and brackets, for a non-AC car, as well.
We've been having fun with it. (Though, rebuilding the tunnel after making a new hole for the 4 speed was a job, and we had to pull everything out to replace the broken Ring Gear...but Found the new Mcleod Clutch, so that was worthwhile!)
I think the whole rear end needs to go...8 1/4", flat looking leaf springs, and $9.00 dollar looking NAPA shocks. Trying to find a 8 3/4" sure grip 3.55 gear one..but it's not easy to find so far. The wheels are...well 15" "Dukes of Hazzard" rims, Cooper Cobra tires.
