Hello everyone. I’d like your opinions on my next step. I’ve had an ongoing issue with no upshift from first to second at wot. I have adjusted the rod for the trans valve every way possible. I thought I had it for a moment as it actually shifted at 5500 and close to 6000 a few times. Since then it will not down shift with pedal pressure or upshift without lifting. (At wot) It shifts way too early under moderate load as well. I really don’t trust the local aamco to look at it. Would changing the governor make sense? I have no idea of the history on the transmission. The engine is a 69 and I have no idea about the transmission. Thank you. Mike

Sounds like a sticky valve. Not sure which one at the monemt.

Hi Nate. Is there. Way to test them? I installed a tf2 kit a few years ago and thought I checked over everything the best I could. Thanks.

Did it function correctly when the TF2 kit was first installed? Was the trans overhauled at the same time?

I had the same issue before it was installed. I was hoping the kit would help cure it.

There are some pressure ports you could monitor but that’s a nuisance. Best bet would be to drop the valve body. I’d look specifically at the throttle valve and kickdown valve (same bore) and the associated springs. My guess is that one or both are worn, sticky or galled.

Thanks. I’ll check them again. Mike
