Sitting in traffic going to Jones beach. Going to my girlfriends house in Centerreach. Stopping at Speedwin in Hauppauge.

I kissed Debbie Barron underwater at a pool party at Jeannine Wenz's house. See, my memory still works.

Summer of 73 I was cruising the local spots in my 63 Fury. Sure wish I had a few pictures of that car.

Here's a picture showing me cruising Grand Bend, Ontario in the summer of 1969 with my new Superbee. I know it is my car by certain features on it. The picture was taken by, and printed in The London (Ontario) Free Press. Grand Bend is on the shore of Lake Huron, about an hour away from where I lived in St. Thomas, and besides having a great beach, it featured a nearby state-of-the-art dragstrip. My girlfriend's (now wife) family had a summer cottage in nearby Port Franks, so I spent quite a bit of weekend time in the Grand Bend area during the summers of 1969 and 1970. This picture recently showed up on Hemmings daily newsletter as the Carspotter feature. Hemmings takes random pictures from newspaper and library archives featuring many cars in the pictures so that readers can have fun identifying the year, make, and model of them. I can't imagine the coincidences that had to happen to enable me to see this very picture of me and my Superbee 50+ years later.

Yeah, I see the cops are just 4 cars back, did they nail you????

'72 was even better for me. Wish I had pics to post. My lime green '70 Barracuda attracted exactly what I wanted.

Not much in the way of truck or SUV traffic back then!

**** summer of 73 I was 14
probably swimming every day
going to drag races with my stepdad Bob
on his off weekends, all up & down Calif.
beautiful weather here always
lots of neighborhood teens over
we had a huge pool, it was the gathering place
bikinis were skimpy, it was great to be young

I remember filling up my mini-bike,
it use to be $0.25, it went to $0.59
gas prices doubled literally ovenight
those were really bad days in other ways

!973 maybe late summer this picture was taken. I just got home from my active duty service, The vette was across the street in my grandparents garage. My wife and I were soon to be engaged
I dont know how many picked this up but "That Sunday That Summer is a song best known sung by the great Nat King Cole.
I particularly like the way his daughter Natalie recorded it.
Every time I listen to that song it takes me right back to that summer.

1973. Got married that year. Beginning of WW3. Honeymoon in Niagara Falls. 67 VW Kombi. Jumped out of 4th on throttle app. Took 2 hands to steer in the wind. She had to hold it in gear all the way back to Allentown. 68-71 were much better. Girls, beer, tunes, and Camel Filters.

1968. Joanie. Life was good. I was an idiot. Well I’m still an idiot, just old now.

My best year. I was a kid at the start of the year and by the end of summer I had a job running a major ride at an amusement park and I had my restricted driver's license. At 15 I couldn't drive my 68 Coronet 500 conv at night. Worked all summer and paid my dad cash for the car in Sept. Sorry no pics. Kissed a beautiful girl that I still keep in touch with. No pics of her either.

73 I was kicking it on my 3 speed schwinn with banana seat sissy bar and a cheetah slick.

73 I was living in Turkey... Different...

I was 11 (and the youngest), so was either sitting on the trunk smoking a cigarette or it was my turn to drive the '69 Fury II. Dad, me and my siblings would take the dog for a run on a back country road. Dad and three of us would sit on the trunk lid smoking a Players while one kid drove and the dog ran beside the car. "Don't tell your Mom"!

Smoked my first cigarette at 10, and for girls I had a bad yen: “When I was young - Eric Burdon.
