I need some help from someone who lives in Vermont.

I’ll be there next weekend. We do have members from Vermont, I’ll let them volunteer themselves. What do you need? Look at a car?

Not really. But thanks

Ok, so I need to vent and lay out what I needed. I have a car registered in VT. I went to get a title and since I put my name and address(OH) on it, the bastards at the title bureau decided they won't take a VT registration unless they have a VT address on it. So I need to 'sell' my car to someone in VT and then 'buy' it back, all of which I was willing to pay for someone's time and trouble, but not knowing me, it's hard to trust people, and I'd have to trust that they wouldn't show up to take my car after I signed it over as well.
Moral to this story, Ohio sucks. So I guess disregard.

Or, I guess I'll load this pile of crap up and drive to VT and sell it to a car lot for whatever I can get out of it. Life's a bitch sometimes.

What a pain in the ***. Most states aren’t good about this stuff but some are notably bad. Good luck with the process.

I had to do the same thing on a Model a years ago. The car was a ground up build, no title ever only registration as it was from NY and they never had titles for cars that old. NJ won't accept a NY registration as proof of ownership so i "sold" the car to my sister in Maryland and she titled it in Maryland , sold it back to me and then NJ would accept the new Maryland title. They turn you into criminals with their silly laws.

This is an interesting thread.

(advance apologies for the hijack)

I have an 86 Shelby Omni GLHS that I bought years ago and never titled in my name. My now-ex wife was cleaning my office back in the day, when I was in the hospital, and shredded the NY title to the car. I looked at the NY DMV site under the VIN, and it shows a lien against it still (this is a 1986 car....). I am unable to get hold of the listed owner. I live in Maryland, and I'm trying to figure out what state I can title it in, to bring it back to MD and get a title in my name...

The car is a project and honestly at this point probably needs a re-body due to rust...but it is #104 out of 500 built and all the specific parts are there, so I think it would be worth it...

A guy I knew did the PO Box thing to register a car in Vermont. He did it to avoid property taxes in CT, he was a character.

You are the second person to suggest this. Getting back and forth from here to there would be the pain.

I do want to apologize for airing my laundry here. Dealing with government officials that bend the rules, or in this case flat out break the rules to fit their agenda just really chaps my ***. Thanks for the suggestions. And NO, this car is not stolen. Sheesh, VT wouldn't register a stolen car and I wouldn't get on a forum and broadcast that. Thanks.
