Last week an old friend passed along some info on a car that was for sale locally. A 70 Superbee that had been owned by the same family since at least 1974. An unrestored survivor with no rust issues wearing original colors ya know the whole nine yards. So I called the gentleman and set up a date and time to view said car. Sunday came and I called repeatedly, no answer didn't even ring. So I drove to his house, as I pulled up he met me on the driveway to tell me that I was not welcome there and leave as he had already called the cops. So I leave only to be pulled over and spend an hour talking to some very kind officers before they let me go. What a nut job this guy is.

He's had the car for nearly 50 years - might be dementia or something else going on with him. A good friend passed away a couple of years ago who suffered from that. Took less than a year to go from a fully-functioning 66-year-old man, to a very mean, vicious, emotional and confused soul who had no idea who he was or any of his friends or family. Dementia is a cruel way for anyone to go.

I don't believe that's the case, he still works running a local dump truck business. I mean if he didn't want to sell I would understand.

There's a funny story I heard years ago about a couple in Sarasota Fl. The husband's father had dementia and financially they could not take care of him. The wife suggested they strip him of his ID and leave him at the dog track. Hopefully someone would find him and the Florida Department of Health would take him in and take care of him, which is what happened. Until he, one day, remembered who he was. The couple was arrested. So, when ever I have this discussion with my family I tell them, 'just take me to the dog track' and get on with your lives.
