I didn't realize there were this many. Oklahoma like Wyoming and Montana is still very Native American. You don't go acting the fool in these areas.

Oklahoma was a territory, known as the Nations back in the 1870's

I find it humorous when Marshall Matt Dillon at dodge city says he has to go to Texas for bad guys! They usually were referring to Liberal, or Dahlhart or Hooker,,, Not Dallas! Due south of Dodge was Indians!

In 1970 I rode a bus from Shepard AFB thru chickasaw to Wichita, and at one stop a group of Indians got on with live chickens in their bags and on their laps! It was hilarious!

Many of the towns with native sounding names are Native American in name only and have no association with any tribe….

This happened in July of 2020.

You all remember Wakita, Oklahoma from the movie Twister. It's a real place.

Wakita was featured in the 1996 blockbuster film Twister starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton in which Wakita was destroyed by an F4 tornado that was part of a storm system later spawning an F5 tornado. False fronts were built onto the existing store fronts for some shots and then were removed and replaced with rubble in the streets after the tornadic storm hit and the rest of the building was removed using CGI. Some original buildings were demolished and never replaced,[12] with some of the bricks from the demolished buildings used to construct Twister Park.[13] The Twister Museum, dedicated to movie memorabilia from Twister, opened a few months before the movie was released and remains a town attraction.[14][15]
