I appreciate any help I can get thanks.

That's just a revision number to the mold. Any time they change the pattern for the casting, it gets the next number.

I read somewhere in the archives, that the suffix I.D. number had to do with assenbly number of the engine and its components. For instance, the number 318-3 meant that the engine assembly was for a truck or heavy duty industrial application and the-3 designated a forged crankshaft vs- a cast crankshaft. I'm trying to find a listing of the other numbers and their meaning..... The dash numbers (- #) on the block's raised numbers, -2, -3, etc were revisions to casting pattern, usually meant if there was a core shift or maybe a alloy revision......the stamped number is different from the rsised casting number....... Just my opinion of course....
